Math Olympics

In room 18 we have been doing Math Olympics! We had three games Shot put, Javelin, and long jump.
In Shot put we had to throw a soft hexagon as far as we could, then we had to measure how far we throw it and record it down. In Javelin we had to throw an ice-block stick and record that down too. In long jump we had to push down on the end of a counter and make it jump as far as it can and we had to record that down as well. When we were done three turns of each game we had to find the average score. Here are some pictures of us doing Math Olympics!

Extreme Origami

Today we saw an man from India and he showed us some amazing origami! He made paper dolls, a lotus flower, a rose, and lots more cool decorations. And all he used to make them was paper and scissors! No tape and no staples! At the end each teacher got a piece of his extreme origami! If you want to learn some of it he is selling it for $4.00 but only for tomorrow!

Aboriginal art

Check out our aboriginal art that we have been doing. Dot paintings and rock paintings are important parts of aboriginal culture. They use art to tell stories, to pass down to their children and their children's children. Here are some of our children telling stories on our windows...

Supporting Cure Kids

Room 18 have been learning about charities and how people can contribute towards helping children have a better life. Here is a song that Flight of The Conchords and Friends created to fundraise money for Cure Kids. Cure Kids help find cures for different diseases and illnesses. Make sure you get your red nose in support of them!

We have also began to create our own song, by adapting the lyrics to make it our own. We interviewed Room 4 children to see what lyrics they could come up with. Here are some pictures of our interviews.

We had to create directions for our class to get through a maze. We did this in our camp groups. Here we are...

Paige had already made a map as her homework, but they are hard to make. Maps are helpful. This camp is full of caves and rivers to explore and you see more creatures like the cave weta .  Glow worms aren't really worms they are lava of other insects.
